Past Present & Future
(words & music by: Hubert McCormack)
Limited, restricted and often imprisoned.
Where future unchanged was something envisioned.
We were living a life of someone else's choosing.
Decisions weren't ours, they couldn't see what we were losing.
Dependent and grateful, one felt like a weight.
We did without, for fear we'd keep you late.
To live as we wished, the only option was pay.
But we had no funds, so at home we had to stay.
The past - lots of battles we refused to stay quiet.
The present - things are changing, but we still have to fight.
The future - ongoing action until such a time,
The freedom you hold is equally mine.
We were itching to live our own lives as we please.
With no constant worries, but comfort and ease.
We developed a service which gave birth to our dreams.
Bringing freedom, options and control in reams.
Now we all can't be active in society.
Although doors are opened with variety.
But we still have to fight because barriers exist.
When legislation removes them, we'll unclench the fist.
